With a grand total of 15 Gold, 12 Silver, and 5 Bronze Medals MMA Phuket won the overall points standing for the Nogi competition and placed second in the Gi. Awards for Outstanding Grapplers of the tournament where given to both Dimitrious Tsitos and Tony Eduardo.
Following the Grappling Tournament a set of MMA Exhibition matches fo
llowed including 2 fights involving MMA Phuket fighters. TMT Muay Thai instructor Ngoo faced a Canadian weighing almost 8 kilos more than him. Showing improved ground technique Ngoo succesfully completed several ground reversals and had a close Triangle Choke attempt. At the end of 3 rounds Ngoo was declared the Unanimous winner via judges decision.
Hutch faced tough newly promoted BJJ Purple Belt Ryan Melchiano from Shanghai (China) BJJ. In an absolute war Hutch displayed heart and toughness but Ryan’s punching power proved to be too much as the ref stopped the fight for the protection of the fighters. Following the bout Tony Eduardo awarded Hutch his BJJ Blue Belt, a point proven by the Gold Medal he won earlier in the day during the Advanced Nogi Competition.
Winning the Black Belt Absolute Division Tony Eduardo showed the advanced techniques he has mastered during his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Career. Currently Tony Eduardo is the only BJJ BB staying in Thailand. He has been staying at Tiger Muay Thai the last 2 months and will continue to stay as Ray and Wiktor prepare for their upcoming MMA fights in Russia.
