lordz of pain grappling tournament in singapore
Team MMA Thailand took 5 competitors to the Grappling Games in singapore and came back with four medals. With 4 different weight classes in the No-gi competition TMT took half of the tournaments gold medals, once again a statement!
Andreas Hesselback (under 78 Kilo) and Mike Hutchinson (Under 88 Kilo) both took Gold.
Jonny Kunstadter took a controversial Silver medal His fight went through regulation with the score zero to zero, no advantages given. Jonny was on top and working for a shoulder choke when time expired. Since no score was given the ref chose the fighter on bottom as the victor. The crowd didn’t seem to agree with the outcome either. Usually in this type of situation the fighter actively working from the top position would be declared the victor.
Michael St. Claire secured the bronze medal in the Open division, winning his initial fight by a double digit point score.
Jeremy Hassan faced a much more experience grappler in the first round of the open division, giving up nearly 6 years of training Jeremy impressed everyone by getting the early takedown and getting the 2-0 lead, during a scramble however Jeremy gave up his knee and tap’d to the knee bar submission.
Magical Ray Elbe was left without a match when Marcos Escobar, a BJJ BB and ADCC champion from Lebanon turned down a superfight grappling match, stating lack of money as a motivating factor in his decision!?
