damo rooney & micky brady dominates ireland
It was a successful night for MMA Phuket at the Ultimate Conflict event in Newry Ireland, as two members went 2-0.
First up on the bill was Micky Brady, a relvative new comer to MMA who made his semi pro debut. Micky came out slow and got rocked early but recovered well and showed why those extra rounds of sparring at TMT paid off. Scoring a quick takedown he quickly advanced from side control to mount. Showcasing solid BJJ technique, less than two minutes into the bout he secured a slick guillotine choke for the submission victory.
Competing as the cards main event Damo Rooney fought an accomplished Thai Boxer named Husen 
Mohamid. Damo controlled the fight from start to finish with his advanced head movement and powerful low kicks.
Showcasing Kru Nazee’s technical skills, Damo eventually stopped his opponent with low kicks late in the second. looking very relaxed and controling the standup portion of the fight, Damo received praise from the event commentator, who announced that they had just witnessed a ‘Muay Thai clinic’ put on at the hands of Rooney.

steve bosse proves hes one of canadas best lhw’s
Improving his record to 4-1 BTT Canada standout Steve Bosse showcased why he is considered one of the top LHW fighters in Canada. Competing as the main event for TKO 35 Bosse, a former professional Hockey player faced standout striker Sebastien Gauthier. Gauthier who owns a Dec. victory over Icho Larenas was a dangerous last minute replacement figher.
Surviving an early RNC attempt Bosse eventually reversed the position and used his brutual GNP to change the course of the fight. Forcing the ref to stop the fight at the 3:59 second mark of the 1st .
Already owning an impressive victory over UFC fighter Wes Sims, Bosse is on the fast track to earning himself a UFC contract.

cody stevens captures naafs 145lbs championship belt
Cody Stevens remained undefeated and showed his home state of Ohio that he is one of the top 145lbs prospects in the entire USA.
Fighting for the NAAFS professional featherweight championship belt, Cody met KOTC standout Donnie Walker. Walker is a veteran of over 10 professional bouts and has been in with some of the world’s best including WEC vet Cub Swanson and Pride Bushido/WEC vet Jeff Curan.
Stevens pushed the pace early in the fight and established his cardio dominance. Winning every aspect of the fight Stevens eventually secured the victory at the 4:14 mark of the fifth and final round.

mike sorenson defeats strikeforce vet. lamont davis on hd net
Fighting in the Maximum Fighting Championship in Edmonton Canada Mike Sorenson improved his Pro MMA record to 4-1 by beating Chuck Norris’s veteran World Combat League striker Lamont Davis by TKO in the first round.
Sorenson’s fight was showcased on Mark Cuban’s HD Net Fights broadcast. Up next for Sorenson is a Sept. 26th showdown with KOTC Vet Levi Avera as he prepares for an eventual rematch with former MFC welterweight champion Ryan Ford.

By defeating Husen Muhamaed, Jan Marsalek, and Paul Cowzer in the past year Steve McCombe earned a shot at World Ranked Bantamweight Paul McVeigh for the Cage Warriors Champinship Belt, July 12th in Nottingham England. After a back and forth slugfest, the MMA Phuket veteran Steve McCombe fell victim to a slick rear-naked choke. With the Loss Steve’s record falls to 7 wins, 4 loses. Even with this defeat McCombe showed why he is considered the top Bantamweight in Ireland.
Also featured on this fight card was the return of Europes top Welterweight Paul Daley, who made quick work of the previously unbeaten Bojan Kosednar.

bobby southworth defends strikeforce lhw belt on hdnet
Bobby Southworth erased the memories of a controversial loss to Anthony Ruiz last November with his decision victory last night in Strikeforce.
The first bout against Ruiz ended after a gash was opened from an accidental headbutt. The doctor stopped the first fight 50 seconds into the 2nd round, giving Southworth the disappointing TKO loss. During Bobby’s long layoff from fighting he traveled to Thailand, training at MMA Phuket ( see our Camp Showcase) to improve his Muay Thai technique.
Working exclusively with the Tiger Muay Thai trainers, Bobby focused on strategies for his upcoming Strikeforce LHW Title defense fight. MMA Phuket looks forward to helping Bobby prepare for his next Title defense. Rumored future opponents include Tito Ortiz, Babalu, and Ricardo Arona.

muhsin corbbrey shows his warrior spirit despite loss
Fighting as the Co Main event for Pro Elite’s EliteXC - Return of the King, Muhsin Corbbrey entered into a 10 week training camp that included an extended trip at Tiger Muay Thai & MMA Phuket. ( See our Camp Showcase )
Contracted to fight at 160lbs, Corbbrey agreed to still compete after his opponent, UFC/PRIDE veteran Nick Diaz weighed in 9 pounds OVER the contracted weight.
After stopping several of Diaz’s takedown attempts Muhsin was ahead on Sherdog.com’s scorecard after the first round. After a tough fought second round it was anybody’s fight. In the third and final round of the fight, Muhsin fell victim to a Diaz takedown and eventual mount. Defending strikes while being mounted, the ref eventually stopped the fight halfway through the final round. Read Sherdog’s Play-By-Play of the fight here.
Muhsin showed great head movement and Thai boxing skills in his bout. Look for Corbbrey to continue building his fan base on the Showtime Television network as he drops down to the 150lbs weight division.

cody stevens fights on local tv in usa
With an amateur MMA career that ended with an impressive 10-1 record, people are expecting big things from The Fight Farm & Wreckroom Athletics fighter Cody Stevens.
After an impressive training camp at Tiger Muay Thai that was highlighted by an Intermediate Pan Asian Grappling Gold Medal in Manila, Stevens easily submitted Hobert Cornett in the first round of his regionally televised MMA fight for the North American Allied Fight Series promotion “Fight Night in the Flats 4″.
After a brief exchange Cornett attempted a lazy takedown which allowed Cody Stevens to easily lock in the guillotine choke before the 30 second mark of the fight.
Now 2-0 in his pro career, keep an eye on Stevens as he looks to move into the bigger shows available.

Dai Shuang Hai is a Mongolian Wrestler with an undefeated 6-0 record in MMA. Representing China and training at the Beijing Jiu Jitsu academy, he was a heavy favorite against Allan Harvey.
Harvey headed into this fight with an 0-2 record in professional competition. This bout was two rounds the first being 10 straight minutes, and the second round consisting of 5. Art Of War-Beijing is very similar to Pride, and allows face stomps, soccer kicks, knees to a downed opponent, and the inclusion of elbows.
Harvey was eventually armbarred half way through the second round, but impressed the Chinese audience with his tough never die attitude.

He Peng is a world champion San Shou kickboxer from China. He trains fulltime at the Beijing Jiu Jitsu academy and has a professional record of 4-0.
Ngoo started the fight quickly exchanging a flurry of punches ending his combination with a head kick. Staggering He Peng into the clench, Ngoo secured the takedown and defended a solid armbar attempt. During a scramble Ngoo found himself on bottom eventually getting submitted by a Kimura in the first round.

Ngoo Ditty will for ever be a part of history with his victory over Pasuk Alkapop. This was the first MMA fight to be sanctioned in Phuket Thaiand between two Thai citizens.
