the afternoonclass rundown

intermediate to advance

General structure of the course will follow these guidelines:

4:00-4:25

warm-up

Class Participants will be expected to stretch and prepare for the afternoon training session (Hands should be wrapped and ready for stand-up training).

4:25-5:00

stand-up training

This portion of the class is “self paced”. Upon completion of stretching individuals will be responsible for completing 3 circuits stations of training that include; Shadow Boxing, Pad/Bag Work, and Sparring. Pad Work will be done by one of TMT’s 18 MT trainers. 3 rounds of 3 minutes with ½-1 minute rest in between rounds.

5:00-5:30

cardiovascular endurance and plyometric training

This portion of the class will increase a participants overall fitness, providing them with the tools necessary to achieve their own personal goals. Students will be expected to participate to their full ability. Circuit training will include fight simulation and technical skills valuable to an actual fight situation. Workouts will be designed to develop cardio endurance, decrease body fat while increasing strength, and improving overall athleticism.

5:30-5:50

drilling

Technique will be demonstrated by the instructor, observed by the class participants and eventually practiced by the participant for the instructor to witness and provide constructive feedback. Instructional material covered will vary depending on size, skill, and logical flow of the course. Individuals will drill the techniques several times increasing muscle memory and decreasing reaction time needed to successfully complete the move.

5:50-6:15

let’s mix it up!

This portion of the class will involve live sparring. Depending on the day the focus will change. Wrestling, Kick-boxing, Boxing, Submission Grappling are some of the categories that will be covered during this period.

mandatory equipment

Students will need to wear appropriate clothing including undergarments, shirt, and shorts (No zipper or ripped clothes). Gi pants may be worn. Finger and Toe Nails need to be trimmed and neatly kept. Individuals will be expected to own a mouth guard. Male participants will be expected to own a sports cup.

Individuals that are training in the advanced MMA program at Tiger Muay Thai for more than 14 days will be expected to have the following training gear;

  • 16oz Boxing Gloves
  • Hand Wraps
  • Shin Pads
  • 8oz “Shooto” style MMA glove

* If individuals do not have training gear upon arrival they can purchase it in the Tiger Muay Thai Gear shop (usually at about 60% of the International cost). The camp has several pairs of “loaners” for individuals training at the camp for less than one week. As a professional it is important to have your own training gear, it decreases the sharing of bodily fluids and prevents the spread of preventable infections. Many of the camp fighters enjoy taking advantage of the cheaper prices Thailand has to offer on training supplies.
