not only mixed martial arts

The Tiger Muay Thai training facility has three separate training areas for instruction. Upon arriving at the camp, guest have their MT skills assessed and are placed in one of three categories; Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. Classes for each division are conducted twice a day. Morning training is from 8-11am, while evening training is from 4-6pm.

Private lessons are available, and can be scheduled with the individual instructor.

train with champions

All Muay Thai instruction is done by a current or retired pro fighter. Currently the gym offers 25+ Thai trainers, divided between the three training groups. TMT does its best to ensure small group classes, allowing for individual attention and rapid progression. Currently the student to instructor ratio is approximately 4 to 1.

structure

Classes are structured and organized. Thai trainers will guide you through the same training regiment that they endure while preparing for a championship fight. You will focus on technique, strength and conditioning, giving you a full understanding of Thailand’s national sport of Muay Thai.

Classes will vary in content, covering; punches, elbow strikes, knee strikes, kicks and the strategies of the Thai Clinch. Pad work is always on-on-one with a trainer, helping you quickly develop and improve your skills. Instructors will make sure you understand offensive and defensive strategies. Making sure you understand how to defend against an elbow or kick is just as important as knowing how to utilize the offensive technique.

Students will be exposed to the wrestling elements of the Thai clinch, learning sweeps and throws made famous by the sport of Muay Thai. Learning how to stand in a traditional Muay Thai stance, TMT guests will begin to see the importance of setting up their strikes using punches, while being able to use basic MT techniques, such as, the “tip” kick and shin kick as they progressively attack their opponent.

conditioning

Every class includes traditional Thai conditioning. You will learn the importance of cardio. Students will experience Tire training, Heavy Thai Rope work, Road Work, Knee body drills, and lots of heavy bag conditioning.

and put it all together

Once students have mastered the technical aspects of Muay Thai, and have the conditioning necessary to compete, TMT’s experienced trainers will start helping them develop ring strategy and fight presence. Students wishing to compete will spar with headgear, shin pads, and 18oz gloves giving them a chance to actively try techniques they have been studying. For those interested in fighting in one of the stadiums in Thailand, TMT can help accommodate those requests with an opponent of equal skill and experience.
